Dimensions of Extraordinariness

Being extraordinary is a state of constant exceptionality from others. It involves doing more than what's required, going the extra mile, and breaking boundaries. Being extraordinary requires courage, boldness, and a willingness to challenge the status quo.

The stories of David in 1 Samuel 17 and Caleb in Joshua 14 are classic examples of extraordinary strength and character in the face of impossible odds. Despite being a young shepherd, David trusted in God and defeated the giant Goliath, inspiring the Israelites to victory and Caleb being old; 85 years of age demonstrated that absolute trust and confidence in one’s self and in the power of God could win you victories where no one else thought was possible. All that is required to be extraordinary, is one more step when your legs can no longer carry you, one more phone call even when all the other calls didn’t yield anything positive, one more try after you have failed for the 99th time; you just need ONE MORE…

There are different dimensions of being extraordinary, we are going to examine five very important dimensions.

1. Extraordinary in Character

Attitude is everything. Your character is who you truly are. Apostle Paul in Phil. 2:15 admonishes Christians to be “…children of God without fault in a crooked generation…”. You are not your title; you are not your position; Titles and positions only cover our true identity. Humility is very essential for character formation. Humility opens up doors you can never imagine would ever open for you. According to James, ‘if we humble ourselves, God will lift us up’. Character sharpens your abilities and brings you into a place of knowledge. Developing a strong character involves:

- Embracing humility and recognizing your limitations

- Cultivating integrity and moral principles

- Practicing self-discipline and responsibility

- Demonstrating compassion and empathy towards others

2. Extraordinary in Strength

Men who ever made it into history books are men of extraordinariness. King Solomon when building the temple in Jerusalem requested men of great skill and expertise from the king of Tyre. Only men of extraordinary abilities are needed in the king’s court. Proverbs rightly said it “Do you see a man who excels in his work, he will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men”. Youthfulness is characterized by strength. How you use that strength determines how your life would turn out in the future. Don’t just settle for getting knowledge, apply that knowledge rightly. Knowledge translated into action brings results. Consistency is key to achieving success. Consistency in something makes you an expert in that thing. Expertise doesn’t come over-night, it comes by consistency. Discover your strengths and put them to work… Developing extraordinary strength involves:

- Identifying your talents and abilities

- Developing a growth mindset and embracing challenges

- Practicing diligence and perseverance

- Seeking feedback and continuous improvement

3. Extraordinary in Vision

Vision is the ability to see a clear picture of a desired outcome. What you see is what you get. Abraham could only possess as far as he could see. Sharpen your mind to see farther than your present circumstances. Write down your visions and make them stick. Habakkuk said “Write the vision…” the vision that sticks, is the vision that is written. Man’s vision is limited, God's vision is limitless, and He can do more than you can imagine. Developing extraordinary vision involves:

- Seeking God's guidance and direction

- Setting clear and specific goals

- Creating a vision board or writing down your visions

- Sharing your vision with others and building a support network

4. Extraordinary in Love (Romans 13)

Love is the ultimate power in our universe. The forces of evil are constantly fighting to stop love from spreading across the whole universe. This love I’m talking about is from God, because God is love. You cannot love yourself outside of God. Self-love is dependent on how much of God's love that has been accessed. You cannot love others if you don't love yourself, because you cannot give what you don’t have. You can only “Love your neighbor as you love yourself”. You cannot be a Christian without love; The proof of Christianity is love. Developing extraordinary love involves:

- Recognizing and receiving God's love

- Practicing self-care and self-compassion

- Constantly confessing God’s love to yourself

- Showing kindness and empathy towards others

- Forgiving and letting go of grudges

5. Extraordinary in the Holy Ghost (Acts 1:8)

The Holy Ghost empowers you for success. Acts 1:8 says “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you…” Without Him, you are powerless. Good success comes from Him, and He strengthens, empowers, encourages, equips, and sustains you. The Holy Spirit is the active force of the Godhead; He implements the will of the Father in the life of a Christian. Developing an extraordinary relationship with the Holy Ghost involves:

- Seeking a deeper understanding of the Holy Ghost

- Asking for and receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost

- Practicing spiritual disciplines such as prayer and fasting

- Yielding to the leading and guidance of the Holy Ghost

Conclusion

Living an extraordinary life is possible for anyone who desires it. By focusing on these five dimensions, you can unlock your full potential and achieve greatness. Remember that being extraordinary requires courage, boldness, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. With God's guidance and empowerment, you can live a life that is truly extraordinary.
